United Utilities has a centralised command and control function for the Water network, managed through an Integrated Control Centre (ICC) in order to become one of the North West leading customer service providers and the leading water and waste water company. The purpose of this procurement is to purchase units to deliver the automation and control of pressure management valve (PMV) controllers in order to enable a calm network thus allowing UU to provide improved customer service, cost savings and cost avoidance. Automation and control will be achieved using new and innovative technologies through installation of remote control of PMVs and Pumping Stations, via the use of such controllers. United Utilities currently have around 4 000 pressure management valves (PMVs) within the UU water network. When adjustment or manual intervention of the asset in emergency situations is required, extensive planning and control takes place, which includes but is not limited to: • manpower • H&S control measures • manual handling • confined space work • traffic management • noticing The PMV controllers will contribute to the proposed strategy for AMP7 within Water Network for extended use of remote controlled intelligent PMVs within UU, negating the need for the majority of the above planning and control activities. There is an Initial requirement for 733 PRV Controllers, with a potential ongoing requirement for significantly more to be delivered under the framework. Controllers must meet the following requirements; • All controllers delivered must come complete with the correct connectivity, data provision ability and ancillary connection equipment as per the required technical specification. • All controllers must come with a minimum of 2 years up to a 5-year warranty. • All controllers must be delivered to the timescales/lead times as set out within the agreement.
