This is not an invitation to tender Urgent response required The situation In the current context of the urgent need for a global response to tackle the coronavirus outbreak, NCC is looking to the capital estates market to explore where options may exist to provide a temporary increase to its care home/specialist accommodation capacity. We are working with the health service to ensure as many medically fit people in hospital are discharged promptly to free up as much hospital capacity as we can to ensure beds are available for those that need them most. What we need If you have care home capacity, a new home nearly complete which could be bought forward, an old home which could be bought back into use please respond (with or without care staff and other staff). If you have capacity in other capital estate which may be useful and quickly adapted please respond (e.g. student halls or residence, private healthcare setting, studio apartments, hotel, holiday accommodation etc.). The cost We have generously already been offered free use of existing capital capacity on a bed, catering and cleaning basis (NCC will provide care in this example) by one local estate owner. We would welcome any organisation who is able to make capacity available to us and no, low or reduced cost where they are able to and we are open to discussion on specific arrangements. We also understand that organisations have costs to meet and therefore we welcome offers from organisations with capacity available which are costed and provide social value. The specification Our care home design guide, attached, sets out our ideal standard. If you can meet this, great. If you can meet a proportion of this standard please indicate roughly how much of the spec you can meet as a percentage in your response. Due to the urgent nature of the current situation, we will need to explore all options. We will conduct site visits and put into place measures and equipment to adapt settings accordingly where possible. We can consider options with and without care staff and other staff in place. Timings The need is now and likely to increase. Please respond as soon as you can gather basic information. We can work up the details as we progress. This EOI will remain open to responses until we get a sufficient level of responses to start to explore further, and may be reopened in future.
