Tender description

The University operates a core backbone network interconnecting all Nottingham campuses using a mixture of UoN owned and rented ‘dark’ fibre provided under commercial arrangements. Whilst most of these fibres carry native ethernet traffic between core switches, two diverse routes between the University Primary and Secondary Data Centres are required to carry a number of circuits. Some of these circuits carry ethernet whilst others carry fibre channel traffic. This is currently achieved via dedicated DWDM hardware which is now reaching end-of-life. The University now wishes to replace this obsolescent equipment to enable all existing services to continue operating on fully supported hardware whilst also enabling migration to higher bandwidth connections if appropriate. The University is looking for potential solutions to this need.
