Tender description

Swindon Borough Council (SBC), wishes to submit to tender the requirements for the provision of fire safety management services to residential and corporate assets within the Borough of Swindon. The contractors will be required to undertake various elements of fire safety on residential and corporate assets. The services are split into 7 lots: 1) Fire Risk Assessments (Type 1 Communal Areas and Type 3 Internal Dwelling Inspections); 2) Fire Door Inspections; 3) Dry and Wet Risers Service and Maintenance; 4) Fire Extinguishers Service and Maintenance; 5) Smoke Vents Service and Maintenance; 6) Sprinklers Service and Maintenance; 7) Compartmentation Surveys (this is a one off piece of work for a 1 year contract period). It is anticipated that each lot will be awarded to a single company to deliver these services, however it is possible for bidders to be awarded more than one lot. Full details relating to the works are provided in the tender documents. To participate, suppliers will need to register as a supplier with ProContract, www.supplyingthesouthwest.org.uk, then register an interest before obtaining access to the tender documents. GBP 390 000.00 pa — initial 3-year contract period = GBP 1 170 000.00 including extension periods GBP 390 000.00 pa — potential 7-year contract period = GBP 2 730 000.00 Approximately 700 FRAs to be carried out over the 3 year period. Inspection of Fire doors and surrounds. Fire door inspections to ensure door safety in the event of a fire GBP 495 000.00 pa — initial 3-year contract period = GBP 1 485 000.00 including extension periods — potential 7-year contract period = GBP 3 465 000.00. Approximately 3 000 doors to be inspected annually, 6 000 two yearly and 1000 three yearly. Dry and wet risers service and maintenance. Test the dry and wet risers to ensure full working order in the event of fire. GBP 21 000.00 pa — initial 3-year contract period = GBP 63 000.00 including all extensions — potential 7-year contract period = GBP 147 000.00. There are 13 blocks with dry risers and one with a wet to be wet tested annually and dry tested on a 6 monthly basis. Fire extinguishers service and maintenance. Check and inspect fire extinguishers and blankets to ensure in full working order in the event of fire. GBP 39 000.00 pa — initial 3-year contract period = GBP 117 000.00 including all extensions — potential 7-year contract period = GBP 273 000.00. Approximately 130 properties with multiple extinguishers to be checked annually Smoke ventilation service and maintenance. Inspection and service to maintain the working order of the extinguishers GBP 31 000.00 pa — initial 3-year contract period = GBP 93 000.00 including all extensions — potential 7-year contract period = GBP 147 000.00. Approximately 6 properties known to have smoke ventilation systems, though this figure could change as others are identified. Sprinklers service and maintenance. Servicing of sprinkler systems to ensure full working order in the event of fire. GBP 31 000.00 pa — initial 3-year contract period = GBP 93 000.00 including all extensions — potential 7-year contract period = GBP 147 000.00. Approximately 7 properties to be serviced — 4 annually and 3 six monthly. Compartmentation surveys. Surveys to be completed to map the compartmentation in various properties with the Borough of Swindon GBP 241 000.00 1 year contract — this is a one off piece of work.
