Tender description

The works proposed are in two parts: (a) to build a new structure within the footprint of the ruined south wing of Ballintubber Abbey, a national monument and protected structure, and broadly to the volume and form of the original structure; and (b) to build a new pitched roof along the eastern side of the cloister, built off the top of the reconstructed cloister wall and rising up to the height of the original cloister roof. The works will be carried out adjacent to a live environment; Ballintubber Abbey welcomes a great many visitors every year and the church grounds are very busy including daily masses, regular weddings etc.
