Tender description
The Marine Institute, a semi State body, wishes to invite tenders for the supply of research services establishing MSY (maximum sustainable yield) proxies for data-limited fish stocks on behalf of the Marine Institute, Rinville, Oranmore, Co. Galway for a period of up to 12 months, starting in May 2020. The Marine Institute is tasked to implement the Marine Biodiversity Scheme which is part of the Seafood Development Operational Programme 2014-2020 funded under European Maritime Fisheries Fund (EMFF). The objective of the Marine Biodiversity Scheme is to promote good fisheries and aquaculture management and protect biodiversity in marine habitats to support implementation of the CFP, and the Habitats and Birds Directives (Natura 2000) and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive. The evaluation of biomass and fishing mortality against reference points for key stone species and/or species sensitive to the impacts of fishing has been identified as a priority action to be implemented under the Marine Biodiversity Scheme for the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) and to support the implementation of the CFP.
