Tender description
The memorial garden is to be created by ‘Lest Sligo Forgets, a local community initiative, in partnership with Sligo County Council, the Peace IV/LCDC Programme, and other public and private donors and supporters. The purpose of the memorial garden is to remember the names of those lost in the conflict. A separate tender process selected Feelystone for the manufacture and supply of 8no. commemorative limestone sentinels that are to be erected in the garden. The works shall comprise: 1. Engage a licensed archaeologist to carry out pre-commencement archaeological investigations as required by planners. 2. Prepare and agree a waste management plan with the Local Authority 3. Establish site, erect hoardings etc. 4. Strip topsoil, excavate to formation levels and store material in spoil heaps on site. 5. Lay new underground electrical services and drainage services. 6. Construct foundations for sentinels, entrance sign and information sign. 7. Supply and deliver 150 sq.m. of limestone paving slabs to studio of Martha Quinn, sculptor, in Riverstown, Co. Sligo. These slabs are to be carved by Ms Quinn, and numbered. Include for collecting on completion and installing on site to a pattern confirmed by Ms. Quinn 8. Lay new additional limestone paving and macadam path. 9. Erect 8no. sentinels, as delivered to site by Feelystone. 10. Install 4no. circular stone stools, to be provided to site by Employer. 11. Supply and erect 2-panel Corten steel entrance sign. 12. Supply and erect Corten Steel lecturn for information panel. 13. Supply and erect lighting, lamp standards and bollards. 14. Construct soil embankment to north, plant beech hedge on top. 15. Plant, stake, protect 35no. semi mature silver birch trees. 16. Make good landscaping, distribute all excavated material on site, rotovate topsoil, lay grass seed, maintain for 3 months after planting.
