Engineering design services for the construction of civil engineering works

The design commission includes for: — interpretation of the current approved planning drawing for the new bridge in line with Network Rail requirements and permissions, — completing preliminary and detailed designs that not only meet with the satisfaction of the Strategic Rail Authority (Network Rail), but also the local highway authority and the local planning authority, and as such will only be successful with full access to Network Rail technical and professional services, — ensuring that this is balanced with the needs of numerous stakeholders including the existing landowner, adjacent developers and the Duchy of Cornwall. The design commission includes for: — interpretation of the current approved planning drawing for the new bridge in line with Network Rail requirements and permissions, — completing preliminary and detailed designs that not only meet with the satisfaction of the Strategic Rail Authority (Network Rail), but also the local highway authority and the local planning authority, and as such will only be successful with full access to Network Rail technical and professional services, — ensuring that this is balanced with the needs of numerous stakeholders including the existing landowner, adjacent developers and the Duchy of Cornwall. Additionally the design must also take into account: — the proximity of a proposed rail halt, — include for the successful closure of 2 adjacent signal-controlled level crossings – Trencreek Lane and Chapel Lane, — all designs submitted for acceptance would need to include all Approvals in Principle (AIPs) together with written approvals from Network Rail on materials and buildability, sign off on programme, including permissions and supervision proposals, — at the end of the design phase, a fully compliant procurement will be undertaken to identify and recommend a suitable principal contractor, approved by Network Rail to undertake works in close proximity to and over a live rail line (given that there are limited opportunities to secure a closure or possession).
