Tender description
Provision of a wireless mesh system covering main public transport routes within Inverness. Provision of a wireless Mesh system for the city of Inverness. Inverness already has some existing radio communication infrastructure but this now needs to be included and integrated into a new wireless Mesh system. The system will have several layers: 1) The UTMC core systems; 2) The backhauls employed in connecting the mesh to the various areas and the UTC and Council core systems; 3) The individual area meshes; 4) The Mesh infrastructure radios. Wireless mesh equipment to be provided may include (but is not limited to): — Central Mesh Controller (CMC), — Satellite Mesh Controllers (SMC), — Local Mesh Switches (LMS), — Connection to a Traffic Light, — Wi-Fi Hotspot, — repeater on a lamp column, — Wireless Point Of Presence (POP) (lamp column or building mounted), — small office location, either wall mounted or roof mounted, — Wired POP – Layer 2 VPN tunnel over IP network, — Wired/fibre connection. Installation and maintenance of wireless mesh equipment, including (but not limited to): — Central Mesh Controller (CMC), — Satellite Mesh Controllers (SMC), — Local Mesh Switches (LMS), — Connection to a Traffic Light, — Wi-Fi Hotspot, — Repeater on a lamp column, — Wireless Point Of Presence (POP) (lamp column or building mounted), — Small office location, either wall mounted or roof mounted, — Wired POP – Layer 2 VPN tunnel over IP network, — Wired/Fibre connection, — associated wiring and cabling. Because some equipment will be installed at high level, the service contractor must provide 24 hour access to a “cherry picker" for the length of the contract. Also, since some of the installation work will involve creating an obstruction on the road or footway, the contractor must have Sector 8 certification for installing, maintaining and removing temporary traffic management on rural and urban roads. This will be required for the length of the installation and maintenance contract.
