The V&A is seeking to appoint a mosaic supplier with the appropriate experience, ability, capacity, capability and resources to provide high quality Carrara and Bardiglio marble mosaic tiles for the V&A South Kensington Café floor. The tiles must have a suitable degree of consistency in the tones of the marble and will be subject to agreement of samples and stone mock-ups. The V&A is seeking to appoint a mosaic supplier with the appropriate experience, ability, capacity, capability and resources to provide high quality mosaic tiles for the V&A South Kensington Café floor. The V&A is the world’s foremost museum of art and design, with over 4 million people visiting its site in South Kensington. The V&A’s main café is a popular location within the museum for its visitors and is both a place for relaxation and refreshment and a route between the East and West sides of the museum. The flooring finish laid in the café needs to be visually pleasing, and of high quality and able to withstand the constant and intense use that is expected within a busy restaurant, from heavy public footfall to continuous movement of trolleys within the space and spillages. Marble mosaic has been identified as aesthetically pleasing and robust, hardwearing floor that can withstand heavy daily use by visitors and staff. The contract is for the supply of Carrara and Bardiglio marble mosaic tiles, of a high quality including a suitable degree of consistency in the tones of the marble, subject to agreement of samples and stone mock-ups. Consultation will need to take place between the V&A, the mosaic designers, and the mosaic supplier.
