Records Storage & Retrieval Contract

Tender description

During the 2019/2020 financial year, The National Archives intends to publish an open Invitation to Tender for a records storage and retrieval contract. The proposed contract length is fifteen years. Our outline requirement is for the appointed supplier to store 40 linear kilometres of paper and parchment records, with a further requirement to store another 15 linear kilometres at an accrual rate of 1 linear kilometre per annum over a fifteen year period. The storage must meet the environmental conditions stated in "BS EN 16893:2018 Conservation of Cultural Heritage - Specifications for location, construction and modification of buildings or rooms intended for the storage or use of heritage collections". We will also require the appointed supplier to provide a retrieval service, operating between the storage facility and The National Archives reading rooms at Kew, Richmond, Surrey TW9 4DU.
