Invalid carriages, wheelchairs and associated devices

Tender description

Provision of healthcare services to assess patient mobility and equipment needs and the supply and ongoing maintenance of wheelchairs being fully funded by the NHS. Direct Award of a contract following the unanticipated termination notice served on the CCG by the lead provider. The CCG has made its assessment, with regards to its obligations under the NHS (Procurement Patient Choice and Competition) (No. 2) Regulations 2013, that it would not be in the patients or NHS interest to competitively tender this wheelchair service at this time, but to extend the existing service arrangements to ensure continuity of this essential patient service at this time. The CCG is in the process of redesigning a larger, broader contractual solution for a range of community services including wheelchair services which is expected to be in place by April 2020. This award of an interim contract will allow the CCG time to complete a review of patient requirements and how this service may be delivered within a future integrated care service solution. The CCG will be engaging with the market in regard to this service and the broader range of healthcare service during 2019 to inform the approach to establishing the integrated care solution.
