Tender description

The Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) is opening a new National Healthcare Photonics Centre (NHPC) based at the NETPark, Sedgefield, County Durham, UK in January 2019. The centre will provide facilities and expertise to help companies of all sizes to develop their photonics-based technologies for healthcare and turn them into commercially viable products. The NHPC will comprise a wide range of technical laboratories, including a bioscience laboratory and an ionising radiation laboratory. The bioscience laboratory will have a remit that includes the investigation of human tissues and cell cultures and the techniques associated with these. The radiation laboratory has been designed to facilitate the use of both x-ray sources and liquid isotopes to maximise the flexibility of the lab to respond to current research and development requirements within the ionising radiation field.
