Tender description

Household waste and recycling centre management and operation. The service required for this contract consists of the management and operation of the Council’s Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRC) at Redfield Road, Lenton, Nottingham, NG7 2UJ. For the operational period commencing on the Operational Date; the management, transportation and sale of recyclable materials, and the management and transportation of Waste to treatment/disposal points and all cost associated with running this operation. For the operational period commencing on the operational date; the management, transportation and sale of recyclable materials, and the management and transportation of Waste to treatment/disposal points and all cost associated with running this operation. Nottingham is one of the UK’s largest and most important cities. Over 630 000 people live across the conurbation, with nearly half — over 329 200 — living in the City of Nottingham itself with approximately 133 000 residential properties. Nottingham is a city of learning and science, with two leading Universities drawing over 60 000 students from around the world who contribute to the city’s youthfulness, creativity and diversity. It is estimated that 37 000 students live within the city itself. The council operates one Household Waste and Recycling Centre located in the southeast part of the city with a throughput during 2017-18 in excess of 7 000 Tonnes. The service operates seven days a week 52 weeks a year with the exception of christmas day, boxing day and new years day, all other bank holidays the site is expected to remain open, and the contractor should refer to “Normal Opening Hours” at 4.18.0 for contract requirements around this point. The site accepts a wide range of materials for recycling and disposal from the public and various charitable organisations as well as from the Waste Collection Authority (WCA). This site does not operate any form of permit/restriction on residents’ legitimate use.
