Tender description

Tenders are sought for the supply of a Conservation Copy stand capable of operating in a production environment, to meet the conservation requirements for the digitization of precious books or other bound historic documents in the format A1 to A4, tolerating only a small opening angle. A portable Camera-Frame with Camera-Mount that will allow the camera to be moved electronmechanically horizontally in order to centre the lens to the page. On Camera-frame there is to be an adjustable LASER unit that indicated the correct position. A heavy duty camera frame that will hold a large 4x5 format camera (including camera-mount) 90 degrees to the Tilt-frame and the motorised actuator to move the camera -frame horizontally. To have a Vacuum – support with regulator to adjust vacuum to minimum required with vacuum support and valve to prevent overheating of the motor. A V-shaped book cradle with angles between boards with spine width and support adjustable. Book cradle must move vertically in order to align the book to the horizontal lazer. Supports to hold binding of books in position during imaging. The system needs to have optimal ergonomic conditions to be fully adjustable. Accessories to hold pages of tightly-bound volumes open (without the use of glass supports). 1 pair of lamps, using high efficiency LEDs. Colour temperature approx 5500K (daylight) Safe for UV and IR. Lamps that can be moved in distance and angle in order to obtain optimal lighting conditions. A homogeneous lighting within the entire scan area is required. When old manuscripts and books are being exposed to a high light intensity, even over a short period of time, biochemical processes can be initiated that can change the characteristics of vellum, paper, ink and colour and thereby damage the originals, the use of conservation methods is a must with heat regulations and light intensity.
