Summary of the work The role will involve analysing and assessing the feasibility for various upgrade options for software such as OSD v9, UTM v6.3, Natural v427, Adabas v825 and related or interfacing components. And then, potentially, leading as a technical consultant any agreed changes for implementation Specialist role Technical Architect Expected Contract Length up to 24 months Latest start date Monday 11 March 2019 Maximum Day Rate Maximum day rate of £1,045 excl VAT Early Market Engagement n/a Who Speclialist Work With The specialist will be a member of the PNC Change Team within the Home Office PPPT portfolio. Other engagement will include working with the NLEDP programme and the varying technical / services support teams based at our Hendon Data Centre. What Specialists Work On The work will be in 3 phases 1.Analysis of mainframe technology hardware and software to formulate recommendations for upgrade options, to maintain continuity of support from suppliers and develop a roadmap including costs / resource profiles for minimal change through the life of the system. 2.Support the delivery of any commissioned change activity recomended, this could include documenting or validating high and low level designs, test strategies, implementation plans and also executing changes where there are identified internal skills gaps. 3.Support relevant BAU activities to resolve incidents, changes, problems affecting the mainframe components - by advising or hands on configuration. Skills & Experience • Recent (within the last 2 years) demonstrable experience of working on National Policing Systems. • Recent (within the last 2 years) extensive demonstrable experience over 10 years of designing and supporting solutions with Fujitsu mainframe technology (Mainframe SE700 H/W with BS2000, OSD v9, UTM v6.3) • Demonstrable experience over 10 years of designing and supporting solutions with Software AG mainframe technology (Natural v427, Adabas v825) • Recent (within the last 2 years) demonstrable experience developing and or supporting products implemented in a mixture of Cobol, C, 390 assembler and Easy Case assembler. Nice to Haves Working knowledge of software such as, LiveSM5 Additional Security, SRG Signon,NSPIS,VODS,QUEST,ANPR,PFI and MLOG Work Location Locations to be split between: - Working from home - Home Office, HDC, 1 Peel Square, Aerodrome Road, London, NW9 5JE - Home Office, Bernard Weatherill House, 9th Floor, 8 Mint Walk, Croydon, CR0 1EA - Home Office, 2 Marsham Street, London SW1P 4DF Working Arrangments This will be a part time role estimated at 5 working days per month. This may vary over the life of the contract. Please note that this role has been initially assessed as being outside of scope of IR35. The IR35 status will checked again at the point of contract award. Security Clearance The specialist must either have SC clearance or be prepared to undergo the SC Clearance process, as well as Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV3) Additional T&Cs n/a No. of Specialists to Evaluate 3 Cultural Fit Criteria • Work as a team with our organisation and other suppliers. • Transparent, collaborative and evidence based approach to making decisions or recommendations. • Challenge assumptions but remain willing to compromise when it is beneficial to progress • Actively involve colleagues and partners to deliver an outcome. • Seek constructive outcomes in discussions. Is there any flexibility on police experience being an essential requirement?We have an SC Cleared candidate interested without police experience and a candidate that doesn't hold active clearance but has police experience in 2002. Both have very similar experience / skillset.As we can only submit one candidate for the position and the fact recent Adabas experience is very limited/niche, which candidate would you prefer to review? It will be very difficult to find a suitable candidate willing to work just 5 days a month, who holds active clearance with police experience in the last 2 years. We cannot guide you as to which candidate to put forward. However, we are willing to support the successful candidate in obtaining the relevant security clearance, if required.
