The works will enable the experimental trials to be carried out. The works shall be carried out at the Contractor's, or their subcontractor's, premises in accordance with the agreed contractual terms or written acceptance from the NNL agent. The gloveboxes are high integrity stainless steel fabrications, requiring cutting, grinding, welding and machining works to be carried out using dedicated stainless steel tools in a stainless steel designated workshop as appropriate. An NNL project requires modifications to be made to existing non-active Category 1 gloveboxes. The current scope of works includes modifications to 4 gloveboxes with a potential further set of modifications to a fifth: — a chain of three Nuclear Fuel Centre of Excellence (NFCE) type boxes, — 1 standalone Facilities Operations Group (FOG) type glovebox, — 1 standalone extended box. The working area of these boxes is typically 2 m long, 1 m deep and 1,1 m high. The extended box is approximately 3 m long and of similar depth and height proportions. The intended modifications include, but are not limited to: — welding of a full depth bulkhead within a box, — cutting of large penetrations and the welding of a boss for furnace fitment, — relocation of a mini-VXA, involving cutting and welding works, — provision of a mini-VXA, involving cutting and welding works, — relocation of systems/pipework, — modifications to air/gas in-bleeds, — service penetrations, — studs for fitting of equipment, — new glove ports/windows, — the addition of control panels, — electrical fit out. Lifetime records shall be provided as specified in any subsequent contract specific documentation. A programme of works shall be required from the supplier. Dependent upon the output of a scheduled review, the manufacture of a new glovebox may be required. The works may induce detail design and manufacturing design as applicable. The scope of work may include the PARJO testing of the containments, full fit-out and factory testing of the gloveboxes and contained process equipment.
