Young Carers and Hidden Harm Service

The Provider is responsible for the overall delivery, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Young Carers and Hidden Harm Service. The Provider will be responsible for ensuring the service requirements below are achieved. The Service will provide a flexible response which provides a therapeutic intervention and respite opportunity and recognises that young carers will remain in this role through adolescence and into adulthood and the impact of substance misuse among family members is likely to have a long term impact on children throughout their lives as an Adverse Childhood Experience. By offering support in childhood, negative impact on the young person can be mitigated and help improve outcomes throughout the life course, including for the next generation. The Service will ensure that the needs and profile of this group of children and young people remain on relevant agendas; representing their needs in a variety of operational forums where appropriate. The Service will work closely with the Safeguarding Children Substance Misuse Service to ensure that the views and experiences of children and young people accessing the service are represented strategically and to influence the training offer provided by Safeguarding Children’s Board.
