Summary of the work Operating client-side as part of the Mobile Examiner Services Beta project team, the Solutions Architect acts as the technical subject matter expert and works with other architects and the project team to inform and develop business requirements, breaking down large scale solutions and developing detailed architectural designs. Who Speclialist Work With DVSA have established a team structure for it's Digital Projects using a Digital Partner team to deliver the project who interface and work together with the Client Side Team, made up of non-technical stakeholders and technical practitioners. The Solutions Architect role sits in the Client Side Team. What Specialists Work On Understand the needs of Mobile Examiner Services project and define solutions. Review and steer project scope, design and technology as technical subject matter expert. Build and maintain technical roadmaps, look ahead for opportunities/blockers, ensure development team decisions align with strategy. Develop and maintain peer/supplier/partner relationships. Advise on optimal architectures, ensuring use of appropriate assurance activities, methodologies and best practice guidelines. Anticipate and mitigate architecture challenges/risks. Define and manage procurement requirements. Advising Product Managers on effort and implications of current and backlog user stories. Enable reuse of patterns, tools etc across government service landscape Help maintain architectural body of knowledge. Skills & Experience • Have experience in disigning and delivering cloud-based services to end users and a background in developing solution designs using IOS and Microsoft products. • Have the ability to analyse requirements and translate them into effective architectural designs • Have the ability to confidently and honestly communicate with stakeholders at various levels of seniority, solving any issues that may arise quickly and effectively • Have 5 years plus experience of working in an IT delivery function • Have technical knowledge and skills across a wide range of domains • Have an awareness of IT security (network, host and application) and implications/application for IT solutions, broader IT market trends and the ability to translate theory into practice • Be familiar with working in an Agile environment Nice to Haves • Be in posession of an industry recognised architectural qualification eg TOGAF or BCS • Have technical skills and knowledge of infrastructure (network, compute, virtualisation, storage, cloud and data centre) • Have technical skills and knowledge of software design and integration (micro service architecture, API, Messaging Bus) • Have technical skills and knowledge of cloud platform services (AWS, Azure, Google, VMWare, Openstack) • Have technical skills and knowledge of collaboration technology (Office 365, Dyanamics 365,/NAV, Cisco) • Have technical skills and knowledge of applications and deployment (Kubernetes, Docker, CDCI, Jenkins, Drone) • Have technical skills and knowledge of application data solutions (SQL, Oracle, Hadoop, Blockchains Work Location The role is based in DVSA's Nottingham office. Working Arrangments The assignment is expected to begin with a period of working 4 days a week until end of March 2019, whilst developing, documenting and taking the various solutions through the SDB . The requirement then reduces to 2/3 days per week through to the end of November 2019.
