Tender description

The aim of short breaks for disabled children’s provision is to ensure that disabled children and young people have access to social experiences and interactions alongside their disabled peers within the local community. Families are also provided a break from their caring responsibilities and given an opportunity to recharge their batteries and/or carry out activities with other family members. Services are split into 4 lots: 1) Short Term Residential Overnight Breaks; 2) Befriending/Buddy Scheme; 3) Targeted Holiday Schemes; 4) Targeted Term Time Provision. Provision of overnight care to a maximum of 5 children/young people per day, on 5 nights per week. The service will operate from a Council owned property and the service will be Ofsted registered. Children are referred to the service through the Disabled Children's Team. Through the Befriending/Buddy Scheme disabled children and young people will have the opportunity to access a range of social experiences to build self-confidence and to enjoy time outside of their family/home environment. The range of provisions on offer will provide an opportunity for them to develop life skills, confidence and self-esteem, and will be encouraged to build and develop positive relationships with peers and access services within community settings. Provision of School Holiday Schemes for disabled children and young people aged 3 to 19 years (up to their 20th birthday) and who live in the B&NES area. The School Holidays Scheme are open to those disabled children and young people with an identified disability as defined in the Equality Act 2010 and/or have been assessed by or who are known to social care. This service will be available in multiple community locations to cover the whole of Bath and North East Somerset. Overnight provision can take place within or outside the B&NES Area. Provision of weekly sessions, during term time for disabled children and young people aged 5-21 years (up to 22nd Birthday) and who live in the B&NES area. The provision is open to those disabled children and young people with an identified disability as defined in the Equality Act 2010 and/or has been assessed by or who are known to social care. This service must be available in multiple locations to cover the whole of Bath and North East Somerset. Overnight provision can take place inside or outside of the B&NES area. Each session will reach a minimum of 15 (dependent on the needs of the disabled children and young people attending) and will not exceed 25 children/young people per session.
