The Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) Underwater Electronic Warfare (UEW) Delivery Team (DT) is considering a full technical refresh and modernisation of the Magazine Torpedo Launch System (MTLS) Control System in 8 x T23 frigates (including the production of manufacture data packs and an update to test and training facilities and guidance) to resolve obsolescence. MTLS is a ship-borne anti-submarine torpedo launching system which deploys Sting Ray torpedo against sub-surface threats. It is expected that the update should deliver at least the same capability as the currently fitted MTLS and should operate within current ship definition. The expected contract award date is April 2020 with final delivery in April 2024. Please note these dates may be subject to change. The total value of the contract is expected to be 7 000 000 GBP. This Prior Information Notice (PIN) has been issued in order to better understand the market, the Authority is inviting interested parties to provide details on their capabilities in this field. This PIN is not a means to seek formal expressions of interest; that opportunity may become available in the future through a Contract Notice published on Defence Contracts Online and the Official Journal of the European Union. This information will not be used to down select suppliers, that will be conducted via a pre-qualification questionnaire once the Contract Notice has been published.
