Tender description

Provide advocacy services within the London Borough of Merton. Independent mental capacity advocates represent people who lack capacity to make decisions about serious medical treatment, the provision of or change of accommodation, where there are no relatives or friends to act on their behalf. Independent mental health advocates (IMHAs) aim to enable residents to participate in decisions about their care and treatment. Care Act: to provide Independent advocacy to eligible residents from the point of first contact with the local authority through to any subsequent stage of the assessment, planning, care review, safeguarding enquiry or safeguarding adult review. Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS): the safeguards aim to make sure that people in care homes and hospitals are looked after in a way that does not inappropriately restrict their freedom. The safeguards set out a process that hospitals and care homes must follow if they believe it is in the person's best interests to deprive them of their liberty, in order to provide a particular care plan. One of the provider’s role is to arrange for assessments to ensure the deprivation of liberty is in the person’s best interests in line with DoLS or any other statutory policy which may become law during the course of this contract such as Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS). Relevant Persons Representative (RPR): if a person's care is authorised following a DoLS assessment, they must have a representative appointed as soon as possible and practical to represent the person who has been deprived of their liberty. It’s part of provider’s responsibilities to appoint a Representative. The RPR represents the relevant person and provide support that is independent of the commissioners and providers of the services they are receiving.
