Tender description

Cornwall Council intends to vary a contract entered into with Enercon for the supply and installation of a 2,3 MW turbine as part of a project working in partnership with Centrica in order to test Smart Grid infrastructure. The variation is to update the turbine model (E82 rather than E70) and involves an increase in costs greater than the 10 % allowed for by the regulations. The reasons for the initial award without competition stand (with the exception of the rotor diameters which does not effect the available suppliers) and therefore for reasons of expediency the Council intends to vary the existing contract rather than enter into a new contract for the amended turbine. The supply and installation of a single 2,3 MW turbine compliant with the G100 grid code with a max. tip height 98,5 m.
