Tender description

This is a prior information notice (PIN) only: publication and a call for competition will be conducted once the scope of work is fully defined and approved. The UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) is seeking a partner with world-leading expertise and experience in trade promotion to implement a new global initiative (Trade Connect) to support ‘export ready’ firms in developing countries to trade internationally. It will be a market-leading initiative to promote trade with firms in our partner countries, working closely with private sector networks and exporting firms on the ground. This programme is part of the UK Government’s suite of new, integrated interventions to support businesses to trade and invest in developing countries, under the ‘Gateway for Growth’ initiative. It will work closely with the digital services developed as part of that platform. The programme will be an opportunity to design and test what works in trade promotion and will have a strong emphasis on learning to feed into a possible future Phase 2. The initial 5-year phase will consist of pilots in 4-5 countries as well as crosscutting elements and be coordinated through a London hub. It will promote both goods and services exports, aiming to unlock sustainable economic development by increasing the capacity of developing country exporters to tackle barriers to international trade and take full advantage of the UK’s post-Brexit preferential trade arrangements by: — providing market information and direction to guide them through the export process, — connecting buyers and suppliers and supporting them to build long-term trusted relationships leading to export deals, — increasing firms and relevant organisations’ awareness of how to use preferential trading arrangements, — coaching firms to become ‘export-ready’ and strengthening business support institutions to support domestic exporters. The total value of the programme is 20 000 000 GBP over 5 years. Please register on the DFID supplier portal for this opportunity (PROJ10074) to receive all communication and updates -https://dfid.proactisportal.com/Account/Login There will be an early market engagement event held on 17.1.2020.
