The main supports are business information services, training, mentoring, business networks and financial supports for qualifying businesses. As part of the work on special projects it is procuring the services of as provider for facilitation and development of a Community-Led Village Design Statement for Hacketstown , Co. Carlow. Carlow County Council under the Town & Village Renewal Scheme wishes to support the development of a Community-Led Village Design Statement for Hacketstown , Co. Carlow during 2020. Hacketstown is an important rural settlement in County Carlow and records a population of 597 in the 2016 Census. Hacketstown is located on the R747 Regional Road and is the southern gateway to the major tourist attractions of County Wicklow. Hacketstown is located approximately 16.6km from Tullow and approximately 10.5 km from Rathvilly. Hacketstown which has an attractive town centre with a boulevard setting overlooked by two churches performs an important local retail, social and services function for the surrounding rural hinterland. Eagle Hill the geographic feature that dominates the town, has an unusual shape giving the impression of one small hill sitting on top of another. Not far away is the Haroldstown Dolmen, indicating that the area was settled in pre-Christian times. The River Dereen flows westwards just north of the Town and the River Derry rises just south of the town. William Presley, an ancestor of Elvis Presley, was a resident of the Town before emigrating to America over 200 years ago.
