Co. Sligo Communities’ Biodiversity Training Programme is a project which aims to develop and successfully deliver community-led biodiversity action for County Sligo a) To equip 10 local community and voluntary groups in Co. Sligo with the skills and knowledge to develop their potential in the areas of biodiversity, habitat conservation, protection and – management/enhancement and habitat mapping. b) To assist with the development of a habitat conservation and development (biodiversity management/enhancement) plan for each of the participating communities/groups for their local area/site of interest. These plans are to identify local actions/projects, some of which, it is anticipated, will be the subject of potential LEADER funding applications before the end of the programme. c) To assist the development of at least two targeted biodiversity actions per group and preparation of 2 case studies per group to reflect the broad scope of biodiversity actions being undertaken by local communities. d) To adopt an inclusive, whole community approach to preparing local plans. e) To assist local community and voluntary groups to promote local biodiversity conservation, protection and – management/enhancement in their local areas and organisation
