Scope of contracting authority’s requirement Contractors’ obligations (i) vehicles which cannot be immediately towed will be secured to prevent hazards or danger to other road users; (ii) contractor shall provide sufficient qualified and duly authorised staff to respond to requests for vehicle recovery and towing services. Recovery vehicle staff should possess an Institute of Vehicle Recovery qualification (or equivalent); (iii) contractor shall ensure the vehicle recovery and towing services will be carried out to ensure there is no further damage caused to vehicle. The manufacturers specific recovery procedure regarding recovering the vehicle is observed; (iv) contractor shall ensure that the most suitable form of towing is carried out for specific vehicles including all types of alternative fuelled vehicles (Hybrid/ Electric/ Gas/Hydrogen) to prevent damage to vehicle.
