Tender description

Public Health London (PHL) is seeking to procure a Microbiology Service Provider to support PHE, the DHSC and other stakeholders both locally and nationally. The Public Health Microbiology Services (PHMS) for London region was previously provided by Barts Health NHS Trust (BHT). In December 2016 the contract with BHT expired and the services were relocated on an interim basis to the Cambridge Public Health Laboratory (CPHL). The model of PHMS for London region requires a commissioned service for the delivery of public health diagnostic testing; outbreaks and other incidents, from receipt of samples to issue of results; provision of surge capacity in the event of outbreaks and the implementation of newly developed tests for public health purposes. This service will be a collaboration with the PHE London team (consisting of administration staff, clinical scientists and Medical Consultant staff) which together will form the Public Health Laboratory (PHL) London.
