Tender description
Dublin City Libraries is the biggest library authority in Ireland serving an ethnically diverse population of almost 1.3 million and an estimated metropolitan population of 1.8 million. It has a network of 21 branch libraries and a collection of specialist services namely music, business information, local history and archives and mobile library destination stops. Library facilities and functions are community spread and geographically positioned throughout the city. The administrative headquarters and senior management team operate from Pearse Street, Dublin 2, and a multifunctional bibliographic processing centre, which supports the citywide library network, is located on the Navan Road, Dublin 7. DLR Libraries provide services across the County through a network of 8 branch libraries, including DLR LexIcon, currently the largest public library in the country, which also contains the administrative Library Headquarters and DLR Arts Office. Fingal County Councils' administrative area has the third largest, fastest growing and youngest population of any county in Ireland. Fingal Libraries operates a network of 10 branches and offers mobile, housebound, local studies and archives services. South Dublin County Council base is in south-west Dublin. The library service has seven branches, one capsule library, a mobile library, home delivery service and a local studies collection. Collectively all four Dublin library services use the Sierra Library Services Automation Platform (Innovative Interfaces) for the management of periodical holdings.
