Tender description
Chelsea and Westminster have been live with ICNet Pharmacy and IP for over 2 years, the 2 systems currently interface with the trusts LABs, PAS, surgery and e-prescribing system. The West Middlesex site has no electronic surveillance in place for either IPC or Antimicrobial stewardship which is a significant risk for the trust. Therefore as part of the change over to the new EPR and standardisation of our IT systems we are proposing that we use this time and opportunity to expand the Chelsea and Westminster ICNet systems to include the West Middlesex site to enable a trust wide surveillance programme for IPC and AMS to ensure both sites provide the same levels of care and focus to 2 critical areas within Healthcare. Chelsea and Westminster have been live with ICNet Pharmacy and IP for over 2 years, which currently interface with the trusts LABs, PAS, surgery and e-prescribing system. From November 2019, the current ICNET Pharmacy and IP interface will be made redundant as the Cerner Millennium EPMA replaces Lastword at the Chelsea site. All surveillance for IPC, surgical site infections and patients with sepsis will cease in its current form and the Trust will not be able to demonstrate quality assurance for IPC and Sepsis. In addition, the Trust will no longer be able to submit data for the multiple national CQUINs and thus forfeit quarter 3 and 4 CQUIN contract. The impending change to the CERNER EPR provides the need for the Trust to standardise its service provision through implementation of ICNET CDSS across the Chelsea and Westminster hospitals. This would allow for further collaboration and reduce current duplication of work at each site, thus improving the trust’s ability to efficiently manage the IPC and AMS services to improve patient care further. The CERNER EPR has a superior interface with the ICNET system than the current Lastword system which will allow the IPC and AMS team’s ability to document their interventions and monitor patient related outcome measures, such as mortality, length of stay and re-admission rates.
