ASS035C - UL - Provision of Seaweed Cultivation Expertise

Tender description

The University of Limerick (UL) wishes to source and appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Seaweed Cultivation service company to support the research and development requirements for their Bio-Dulse Project for Seaweed Cultivation. The purpose of this tender is to provide; • Palmaria palmata strain collection and selection • Optimization of vegetative Palmaria cultivation at laboratory scale • Optimisation of Palmaria cultivation by tetraspores at laboratory scale • Technical support to transfer and cultivate Palmaria palmate at larger scale The work programme will involve a combination of small-scale laboratory and knowledge transfer activities over three (3) years, including the collection of a number of strains of P. palmata from distinct populations around the country, with special emphasis on known ecotypes. A subset of these collections will be cultured at laboratory scale for analysis of growth and development traits (including chemical composition), while prepared wild biomass will be processed for further analysis by UL for specific protein composition.
