Tender description

Old Cork Waterworks Experience under the guise of Lifetime Lab has been operated by Cork City Council since mid 2006. Over the past decade, the site has maximised visitor numbers through the development and delivery of educational programs, corporate rentals and the introduction of a series of onsite events. A review of operations in 2014 identified tourism as an area to facilitate growth of onsite visitor numbers particularly over the summer season when education programs and corporate elements tend to be less active. In supporting this objective, onsite personnel engaged with Fáilte Ireland in order to explore how best to maximise visitor potential. In 2016, Cork City Council carried out a renovation of the existing exhibition spaces and reception area. This work coincided with the opening of the former engine room to the public for the first time; this new visitor space was made possible through funding secured under Ireland’s Ancient East Experience Development Capital Grant Programme of 2015. During 2017 the process of re-branding from Lifetime Lab to the Old Cork Waterworks Experience commenced with the development of a new logo and colour scheme. Throughout late 2017 and early 2018 a gradual changeover in signage, printed and promotional materials took place with the rebranding officially communicated in March 2018. The new logo and colour palette are included in Appendix 1. Cork City Council is seeking tenders from suitably qualified and experienced exhibition designers for the design, construction and installation of multimedia interpretation works at Old Cork Waterworks Experience to enhance the existing visitor experience in accordance with the requirements and timeframes of Cork City Council outlined in this document. The work will include new audio visual presentations, multilingual interpretation, design & translation of new visitor handout, panels, internal signage, interactive touch screens, props, and associated set design, staging and fit out.
