LEE699C - Department of Defence - Supply of Gamma Radiation Monitoring Equipment

Tender description

The Department of Defence are seeking the purchase of Gamma Radiation Monitoring Equipment to replace their current Graetz monitors which have reached the end of their operational life. Currently two (2) units have no access to radiation monitoring equipment, which reduces our capacity to meet the requirements of the EPA MOU with Civil Defence. A National Alert Readiness Exercise is scheduled for November 2019. New equipment will need to be issued and training provided prior to this event. The instruments will be supplied to each Civil Defence Unit in the Country. There are currently 29 individual units administered by the local Authorities. It is envisaged that the full re-equipping of Civil Defence Units may take up to three years with a total of sixty two (62) units required. Each Civil Defence Unit is expected to be issued 2 replacement radiation monitors with an additional four (4) being held in reserve at a national level for training and redundancy. The initial purchase in Year One will be for fifteen (15) units. Over the course of the three (3) years, Civil Defence Branch, Department of Defence may draw down on all, some or none of the equipment tendered. Tenderers please note, should additional funding become available, the Civil Defence Branch of the Department of Defence may undertake to draw down on the full amount in one tranche. Please note, the Education Procurement Service, on behalf of Public Sector Bodies, reserve the right to purchase up to an additional ten (10) items should such a need arise within twelve (12) months commencing from the Award Notification date.
