Supply of Marine Scales to the Marine Institute, Rinville, Oranmore, Co. Galway.

Tender description

At present a requirement exists for the purchase of seven marine scales for the use on EMFF (European Maritime and Fisheries Fund) funded surveys carried out by the Marine Institute in two Lots. Tenderers are invited to bid for one or more Lots. Lot 1 - Irish Groundfish Survey Marine Scales is in respect to five marine scales needed for use on groundfish surveys operating typically in offshore waters. The purpose of these surveys is to assess the relative annual abundance and distribution of commercially exploited fish stocks, in particular assessment of recent recruitment. In addition, other species of national importance are sampled along with physical and chemical oceanographic parameters. Lot 2 - Inshore Survey Marine Scales is for two marine scales use on inshore surveys operating on vessels typically <15m. Inshore surveys are carried out to assess the state of shellfish stocks and fisheries around the Irish coast. These surveys are funded under the EMFF (European Maritime and Fisheries Fund) to support the implementation of the DCMAP with the objective to build capacity in the areas of inshore fisheries data collection, data management, assessment and provision of advice for shellfish stocks exploited by Ireland’s commercial marine fisheries.
