A new SWE equipment capable of processing solid or liquid food biomass / food by-products are required to facilitate this. Process optimisation and potential scale up is seen as essential by the food industry. The main features of the SWE equipment should be user friendly which can be used to investigate for its physico-chemical properties; biological properties and to quantify the extracted bio functional compounds of the processed products. This processing capability along with process optimisation and potential scale up is seen as essential by the food industry. The main features of the SWE unit will be to have advanced control system to monitor temperature, pressure and extraction time.
