Tender description

Met Éireann, the national meteorological service of Ireland, is planning to issue a request for tenders for a dual polarisation weather radar system. The supplier of the weather radar system would be required to provide the weather radar system and necessary software, perform the civil works as required to facilitate the radar installation, ensure that the radar data is compatible with software currently used by Met Éireann, deliver data to ODIM HDF5 standards, install, test and commission the radar system, provide comprehensive documentation and training on the new weather radar system, and provide maintenance options for the new weather radar system. An essential element of this procurement process will be the capability to perform the replacement of the weather radar system in a short time frame. Please do not respond to this notice. Met Éireann, that national meteorological service of Ireland, operates the Irish weather radar network which is comprised of 2 single-polarisation C-band weather radars, one in the East of Ireland, at Dublin Airport and the other in the West of the country, at Shannon Airport. Met Éireann is planning to issue a request for tenders for one dual-polarisation weather radar system to replace the weather radar at Shannon Airport. The aim of the procurement would be to ensure maximum availability of radar coverage by replacing the current Shannon weather radar with a modern weather radar with dual-polarisation capabilities. The supplier of the weather radar system would be required to: — provide the weather radar system including the radome and necessary software at Shannon Airport, — perform the civil works as required to facilitate the installation of the Shannon Airport weather radar, — ensure that the radar data from Shannon Airport radar is compatible with software currently used by Met Éireann, — deliver data to ODIM HDF5 standards to Met Éireann in a timely manner, — install, test and commission the weather radar system at Shannon Airport, — provide comprehensive documentation and training on the new weather radar system, — provide maintenance options for the new Shannon Airport weather radar system.
