Procurement of a Design & Build Contractor for the Supply & Installation of Acoustic Pods to the Quantum Physics Laboratory at Kane Science Building, UCC.

Tender description

The deliverables are to Design, Supply and erect on site the Acoustic Pods to Quantum Physics Laboratory at Kane Science Building, UCC as detailed in the Works Requirements. The system is to achieve an Rw-40 rating with an overall maximum wall thickness of 100mm. The enclosure must be able to vent for passive ventilation preferable at the junction of the wall / roof (to prevent over pressurisation from the internal gases. The doors are to achieve the same Rw rating as the walls, with the lowest profile available at the threshold. The supplier is to provide an acoustic lining to the inside face for the walls and ceiling in accordance with the Acoustic Lining Specification to Acoustic Enclosures included in the works requirements. This additional acoustic lining is not to be considered when providing the specified Rw 40 db rating for the ceilings and walls. The supplier is to provide the internal lights and external light switches (all service voids to be built within the wall system).The supplier is also to provide and install the battery operated combined smoke and heat detectors as well as the battery operated CO2 detector. 3No. rows of Unistrut T1000 or equivalent is to be provided to 3No. internal elevations of all enclosures excluding the door elevation at 1m, 1.5m & 2m above ground level. In additional to all other vertical loads, the Unistrut system must be capable of supporting a maximum characteristic variable load of 1kN at an offset of 300mm, applied perpendicular to ground level.
