Tender description

The University requires a supplier to supply, install and commission the following equipment for the AFRC facility: — cut off saw, — metallographic sample grid and polisher, — modular extensions, — hot mounting press, — electronic polisher/etcher, — vibro polisher. The equipment will be installed at Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC), Inchinnan, Renfrew. Please note your interest for this requirement if you can provide all the equipment stated above. The University requires a single supplier to supply, install and commission the following equipment for the AFRC facility: — cut off saw, — metallographic sample grind and polisher, — hot mounting press, — electronic polisher/etcher, — vibro polisher. Cut off saw specification is as listed below: — 14” cut off saw for metallographic specimen preparation, — samples must be able to be suitably clamped in the x, y and z directions, — samples able to be moved in the x, y and z directions once clamped in place, — can cut samples of at least 135 mm in diameter, — able to cut samples of at least 5 kg in weight – minimum, — variable feed rate, — variable disc speed, — pulsed cutting, — light in the chamber, — programmable cutting routines. Metallographic sample grind and polisher specification is as listed below: — semi-automatic programmable metallographic sample grind and polisher with dual working wheels, — must have 2 off 300 mm diameter working discs, — must include carousel for grinding and polishing moulds of the size 25 mm, 32 mm and 40 mm diameter, — must have the option of single central force/pressure or individual sample force/pressure, — must have a water rinsing tap, — must be able to determine the amount of material removed with an accuracy of 0,01 mm or better, — must include automatic dispensers, — must be able to vary the following parameters: head rotation speed/base rotation speed/force/pressure on sample/water on/off, — must be able to store a minimum of 15 grinding/polishing programs Mounting press specification is as listed below: — 2x modular opal X-press 2 additional (slave) hot mounting press units, — must be able to be attached to the opal X-press 2 (Master) hot mounting press, — one of the additional units must have a 25 mm mould size, — one of the additional units must have a 40 mm mould size. Electrolytic polisher/etcher specification is as listed below: — vibration polisher for metallographic specimens, — must have variable vibration frequency, — must have rim enclosure, — must include 6 off each sample holders for 25 mm, 32 mm and 40 mm diameter moulds. Supplier must install and commission all machines. Delivery shall be within three (3) to four (4) months with training and commissioning to be confirmed at a later date
