NWSSP Procurement Services on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board is issuing this PIN to engage with the market due to a requirement for the development of a strategic plan for tertiary services. The Health Board are looking to engage market providers on the development of a strategic plan for tertiary services. The Health Board is one of the largest health organisations in the UK and it is the largest provider of tertiary services in Wales. Tertiary services are specialised services which: — are generally low volume/high cost which have a planning population of greater than 1 000 000, — usually involve referral pathways from secondary care or primary care, or other tertiary care services, — may be provided by teams who also provide secondary care services. Examples of the tertiary services the health board provide include: — artificial limb and appliance service, — cystic fibrosis, — neurosurgery — Paediatric Intensive Care (PICU). Over the last decade, the range of tertiary services that the health board provide has been relatively stable, however, a number of these services have experienced significant changes in the level and type of demand, as well as advances in treatment and medical technology. Each of these developments has had an impact on how we deliver these services.
