Tender description

This contract is to provide demolition (including asbestos removal) framework for Durham County Council. The types of properties which the Council foresee as becoming surplus premises requiring demolition include, leisure centres, housing stock, office accommodation, educational establishments, community and factory units as a minimum. Durham County Council occasionally has buildings which are classified as surplus property. It is the intention that this framework is utilised to de-commission and demolish these premises. The framework would also be used for emergency demolitions in situations were the building is deemed structurally unsafe from either the result of a fire, explosion, impact damage or vandalism. Durham County Council occasionally has buildings which are classified as surplus property. It is the intention that this framework is utilised to de-commission and demolish these premises. The framework will be used on a wide range of building types and sizes and for example could include but is not restricted any of the following: — single/ double garages, — demountable classrooms, — housing stock of various sizes, — community halls, — community centres, — industrial depots, — primary schools, — office accommodation, — residential care homes, — leisure centres. The framework would also be used for emergency demolitions in situations were the building is deemed structurally unsafe from either the result of a fire, explosion, impact damage or vandalism. The Council intends to award a place on the framework to 6 contractors who must appoint a contract manager to work with the Council during the operation of the framework. This person will be the main point of contact for the Council and will be responsible for all contractual, financial and health and safety matters in relation to appointed works. A rebate retrospective of 1 % will be collected and will be based on all business transacted under this framework. Bidders must have the appropriate waste licences and environmental permits for this framework.
