Tender description
The primary purpose of this project is the development of the NDA’s websites so that they can effectively communicate the NDA’s work and activities, while also being compliant with the Web Accessibility Directive. The proposal is to redevelop the National Disability Authority’s (NDA) website (www.nda.ie) and the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design’s (CEUD) website (www.universaldesign.ie), with due regard to their respective audiences, as well as their shared corporate identity and the communications strategy for the organisation as a whole, which is currently under consideration. This project aim is to revise and update how these websites are structured so as to highlight and promote NDA’s work, ensuring that they work as strong communications devices in a way that is also accessible across all operating systems and devices. As both websites are the NDA’s primary shop window to the public they need to be usable, accessible and appealing to external and internal users. One of the main features will be the inclusion of a dynamic search function that will act as a back-up to users. In addition to the above the NDA notes that the Web Accessibility Directive is due to come into force in Ireland, with a series of obligations for public sector bodies in the design and accessibility functions of their websites. The NDA should have websites that demonstrate best practice in this regard. There is a requirement to review the content of the websites to ensure that it functions effectively as the organisation’s communications tools. This will include consideration of the thematic structuring of the site, also how the site can communicate NDA’s role and value in a more dynamic manner than is currently the case. Work will be progressed internal to the NDA to consider how current content on the website could be organised or archived where relevant, but the appointed contractor will be required to advise on elements of this work where appropriate as it progresses.
