Now in its 66th year Panorama is the BBC’s multi award winning flagship current affairs programme on primetime BBC One. The series of 39 x 30’ programmes is transmitted on BBC One Monday nights at 8.30pm. In addition 7 x 60’ Specials are produced throughout the year. The London in-house team produce just under half of the overall strand. This tender request supports the London in-house produced programmes only. However, our post-production partner might be called upon to assist with delivery from other Panorama post production suppliers on occasion. The Panorama London in-house team make between 15 and 19 x 30’ and 2 or 3 x 60’ programmes a year in total Panorama programmes vary, but the London team usually provide a mix of the following broad categories: • UK Domestic Social/Consumer Affairs • Political Programmes • Foreign Affairs • Investigations, including undercover filming or complex legal or editorial policy issues • Topical Fast Turnaround Filming styles also vary significantly and include self-shot and observational documentary style, archive heavy, substantial undercover footage, and fast turnarounds with simultaneous filming and editing. The majority of these will be edited at our Supplier’s facility; however, some might be edited on location or on BBC premises across the country depending on the programme type and team. Thus, in addition to the minimum guarantee there might be occasions when we require our Supplier to complete only the final post stage. This contract will commit to 13 x 30’ and 2 x 60’ London in-house programmes and associated BBC Distribution versioning over first 52 weeks. However, there is scope for more programmes depending on the news agenda and commissions.
