Foldable Cycle Hire Scheme for Kingston upon Thames

RBK are seeking a contractor to install and maintain a folding bike hire scheme at 3 new locations across the borough. Folding bikes offer flexibility when making multi modal journeys, local trips and take up less space when not in use. The scheme will complement wider improvements to cycle infrastructure as well as advertise Kingston’s Mini-Holland programme brand, ‘Go Cycle’. The whole cycle hire scheme should be self sustaining. The contractor will be expected to cover the cost of installing and maintaining the bikes and hire facilities, as well as managing the membership and booking systems. The bike hire service should be sustained by the bidder, apart from the initial installation cost there should not be any ongoing financial commitment needed from RBK past the initial payment. The contractor will be expected to provide and carry out the installation of quality folding bikes and secure facilities to hire them from. The facilities will need to be accessible 24/7 but secure against theft and vandalism.
