Drug and alcohol misuse continues to be a significant issue in Brighton and Hove, including drug-related deaths. Historically, Brighton and Hove has had one of the highest rates of drug-related deaths in the country. Concerted efforts have been successful in reducing drug-related deaths but the recent trend suggests that they are increasing again. This service sets to reduce drug-related deaths by providing a support and preemptive service. TUPE may apply. The primary function of the service will be to offer flexible short stays for substance dependent service users, providing medically supervised prescribing, intensive assessment, care and treatment with brief intervention therapy to those service users who require stabilisation, reduction or detoxification from harmful substances. In addition, the service will offer individual and group work focusing on harm reduction, relapse prevention and cognitive testing. This service is an integrated drug and alcohol community recovery service. The service will deliver a range of clinical, psychosocial and recovery support interventions that have a proven effectiveness in supporting recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
