Tender description

This PIN covers the range of products that fall under NHS supply chains minimally invasive framework. These include (but not limited to) the following product areas: — trocars: optical, blunt, bladed, — stapling: circular and laparoscopic, endo and linear cutters, — ligation: clips and clip appliers, — energy: advanced hand pieces and generators, — laparoscopic instruments and packs: graspers, scissors, forceps, retrieval bags, — abnormal uterine bleeding products. Trocars are instruments placed through the wall of the abdomen during a minimally invasive surgical procedure. The trocar must function as a portal for the subsequent placement of other instruments into the body cavity such as graspers, scissors and staplers. Mechanical internal stapling devices designed for open or laparoscopic surgery that can be used via a trocar or during an open procedure. For the avoidance of doubt the framework agreement does not include external skin stapling products. Internal staples can be made from titanium or stainless steel and must be non-absorbable. Mechanical internal stapling will include as a minimum, single use staplers that are supplied either preloaded with staples or unloaded to allow the user to load staples and reusable stapling handles that allow the user to load staples. Energy products must be designed to cut and seal blood vessels using ultra sound, bipolar electro-surgery or radio frequency in conjunction with a power source. Products can be used during open or laparoscopic procedures and must be able to cut and seal at the same time using the same technology. Ligation products must be designed for marking or ligating tissue structures or vessels during a minimally invasive procedure. Instruments and accessories designed for and only used specifically for a minimally invasive laparoscopic procedure; instruments must be suitable for use through a port or trocar. Products designed for and used to address conditions of the uterus and abnormal uterine bleeding.
