PURCH1753 provision of fused silica optic ears. Tender documents available from public contracts Scotland. The material shall be Heraeus Suprasil 312 (preferred), or a chemically-equivalent, low-OH synthetic fused silica; please specify if quoting for any material other than Suprasil 312. The procurement is divided into three (3) lots, one for each of 2 types of “optic ear” and one for the blanks from which ears are formed. Our target is to have completed the production steps for these items by December 2021. In lot 1, we request quotes for the ‘A’ and ‘C’ stages only. After initial fabrication ‘A’ the parts are to be sent to the University of Glasgow for flame polishing – stage ‘B’. At this point final payments for stage ‘A’ become due. The quantities requested for stages 1A and 1C reflect an allowance for loss at stage 1B. Please refer to the tender document for additional information.
