Carnroe Weir Rehabilitation

Tender description

The contract will be for the repair and refurbishment of an existing masonry river weir at Carnroe on the Lower River Bann for the purpose of maintaining navigation and the construction of a new fish pass integral with the weir. The proposed works are described in outline in the drawings and project description document which are included in the tender documentation. The contractor will be responsible for elements of the design including (but not limited to) all temporary works, the detailed and structural design of the new fish pass, the detailed design of a temporary fish pass, repairs to the existing weir structure, a replacement weir apron and scour protection, bank protection, masonry wall repairs etc. Design and construction will be constrained by the conditions applied to the statutory approvals to be obtained by the Employer including Planning Approval, Drainage Order Consent, Approval of Fish Pass design and Scheduled Monument Consent. The Employer has developed a full Environmental Impact Assessment as part of the planning application process. A Draft Construction Environmental Management Plan will form part of the tender documents and the appointed contractor will be required to develop, maintain and implement the plan throughout the duration of the contract. The Contract Period will be 18 months commencing Spring Year 1 with completion due in the Autumn of Year 2. Actual start date to be determined following receipt of all statutory approvals and completion of the tender process.
