Works Contractor for Conservation of Quadrangle Roof & Stone Facades

This contract has been awarded to Purcell Construction Vat nr 4766644G The project consists of the conservation of the East & West Wing Roofs and stone facades of the Quadrangle Building (protected structure, RPS 10303). The non-exhaustive list of works include surveying the roof and stone facades and establishing the condition of the fabric of the building to allow for the conservation and repair of the stone facades, the removal of all slating and its assessment for salvage; the removal of all flashings, gutters and valleys; the removal of battens, counter battens, boarding, felt and insulation; the provision of new flashings, gutters and valleys; the lifting of parapet capping’s and re-setting on metal flashings; the provision of a new metal lining to the back of the parapets; the conservation and repair of the stonework; the taking down and rebuilding of chimney stacks and ornamental pinnacles, the repair and painting of damaged internal rendered ceilings and walls and the conservation and repair of the clock faces. The section of flat copper roofing at the base of the Clocktower is to be replaced with a pitched slate roof to its original profile, to match the adjacent roof.
