Tender description

Bont Evans Tree Works and Stabilisation (phase 2) project. To appoint a contractor as the principal contractor and principal designer (under CDM 2015) to adopt the in-situ catch fencing to carry out emergency works and maintain load bearing structures over a defined period. The works include: 1) Repair works to the 900 m long in-situ catch fence; 2) Stabilisation of 17 No toppled root plates; 3) Monthly inspections of root plates and catch fencing for a period of 2-years; 4) Removal of the catch fence (utilising traffic management); 5) Reinstatement of work areas (including stock fencing and landscaping). Although a ‘new’ contract, the proposed contractor was employed in part as a sub-contractor on the BETWS project. The appointed principal contractor and principal designer for entire scheme delivery (Dawnus Construction Holdings Ltd) entered administration on 14.3.2019 leading to termination of the ECC contract. This replacement contract is to appoint the proposed contractor as the principal contractor and principal designer (under CDM 2015) to adopt the in-situ catch fencing to carry out emergency works and maintain load bearing structures over a defined period. The proposed contractor is familiar with site conditions, is the owner of the in-situ catch fence and can readily mobilise to address emergency stabilisation works to reduce NRW’s risk and liability. The works proposed include: 1) Repair works to the 900 m long in-situ catch fence; 2) Stabilisation of 17 no toppled root plates; 3) Monthly inspections of root plates and catch fencing for a period of 2-years; 4) Removal of the catch fence (utilising traffic management); 5) Reinstatement of work areas (including stock fencing and landscaping).
