Tender description

The authority has a requirement for the design and manufacturer of HVDC Switchgear. The UK Atomic Energy Authority is a non-departmental government body carrying out research into the potential of nuclear fusion as a future source of energy. The authority has a requirement for two sets of five HV DC switches (ten switches total). The switches will be used in 2 80kV DC 70A systems, for each set there is one disconnector (not a break switch) on the positive supply, which will only be opened under no load conditions, three grounding switches for the positive supply and one grounding switch for the neutral line. The switches will be used to control access to HV areas and integrated into a key exchange. The responses to this notice and any subsequent conversations with suppliers will inform a future invitation to tender.
